The Emmaus Salford School Uniform Hub collects and redistributes school uniforms and shoes to children living in Salford.
The School Uniform Hub was launched in August 2020 by Emmaus Salford in partnership with Guinness Partnership and Sal’s Shoes. Our aim is to reduce good quality clothes and shoes going to landfill whilst providing items free of charge to families in need.
We stock shirts, sweatshirts, skirts, trousers, socks, pumps, shoes and PE tops. Most of the items are sourced from collection points and lost property at local schools and individual donations. As well as good quality pre-owned items, the Hub also stocks some new clothes with initial donations from Tesco Extra in Swinton and national retailer, SOCKSHOP.
Footwear is supplied by Sal’s Shoes, a charity that redistributes outgrown but not outworn shoes to children in desperate need. Since 2013, Sal’s Shoes has provided over two million pairs of pre-loved children’s shoes in 46 countries around the world.
The Emmaus Salford School Uniform Hub is accessed by appointment only. If you are on a limited income and in need of items, you can be referred to us by Salford Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) or by local schools.
Once we have received the referral from Salford CAB or your child’s school, we will contact you to arrange an appointment. It’s essential that you attend at your specific time slot so that we can ensure you and your child’s safety in accordance with our COVID-19 safety measures. Our School Uniform Hub is located at Emmaus House, 101 Fitzwarren Street, Salford, M6 5RQ.
If your child has outgrown their school uniform or shoes and the items are still in good condition, you can donate them to us for redistribution. Please give the items a good clean, bag or box them up and add labels marked ‘School Uniform Hub Donations’. You can drop items off at our Community Homestore during its opening hours.
If you are part of a business or organisation that would like to help our School Uniform Hub, please contact us to discuss your support. Call Jane on 07376 488 385 or email [email protected].
The School Uniform Hub is run by community members of Emmaus Salford, enabling our companions to gain skills and experience whilst supporting local families. In addition to the Hub, we run three charity stores in the city as well as Lucie’s Pantry social supermarket.
Our social enterprise activities provide valuable work and training opportunities to formerly homeless people whilst offering essential products and services to housed individuals and families in need, and potentially at risk of homelessness.
